Edition #4 – Presentation

From Thursday, May 30th ato Sunday, June 2nd 2024 – Cinéma Les Arcades, Cinéma Olympia, Place de la Castre, Allées de la Liberté

On May 30, 31 and June 1, 2, 2024, the 4th edition of the Festival International du Film Écologique et Social (FIFES) will take place in Cannes (06), under the presidency of Delia Ackerman for the international jury and Gilles de Maistre for the youth jury.

Placed under the sign of the living, the festival honors the youth and those who make of the cinema a medium of expression, of commitment and who have this capacity to contribute to the incarnation of the new imaginary.

will be screened at Cinémas Les Arcades and Olympia on Thursday May 30, Friday May 31 and Saturday June 1.

Opening Ceremony
will be held on May 30, starting at 6:00 pm, at Place de la Castre, on the Suquet hill. The evening begins with a show hosted by storyteller David Razon. At 7:00 pm, a musical cocktail reception will be served. At 7.30pm, the festival program, jury members and films in competition will be presented. Then, at 8:00 pm, the evening continues with a talk by François Gemenne, co-author of the sixth IPCC report and a specialist in policies for adapting to global warming. Finally, at 9:30pm, the public can discover the award-winning film We are Guardians, dedicated to the struggle of Brazil’s indigenous peoples to preserve the Amazon rainforest.

Closing Ceremony
will take place on June 1 at 6:00 pm, Place de la Castre. A live art show will be presented to the public. At 7:00 pm, a musical cocktail reception will be served. At 8:00 pm, the awards ceremony for this 4th edition will take place: the Graine d’Or, the Prix Coup de Cœur, the Prix Spécial du Jury, the Prix Jeunesse, the Prix de l’Engagement, the Prix de la Meilleure Réalisation, the Prix Vert comme l’Espoir and the Prix du Public. The evening continues with a second live art show, and concludes with the Gentleman Farmer’s concert at 9:30pm.

The Village des Initiatives will take place on June 2 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on the Allées de la Liberté, where associations and companies committed to ecological and social issues will be rubbing shoulders. A special evening – the Graine d’Or evening – will take place on Sunday June 2 from 6:00 pm on the Allées de la Liberté. Between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m., the public will be treated to a presentation of films by associations and partners. Starting at 7:00 pm, a philharmonic concert of film music conducted by six professional orchestra conductors will be offered to Cannes audiences. And at 9:30pm, the festival closes with an open-air screening of the film that won the 2024 Golden Seed award.
