Meet Sani Magori, a distinguished member of the 4th F.I.F.E.S. jury, whose multidisciplinary background greatly enriches our festival. After graduating in Saharan agronomy in Algeria, Sani embarked on a career in journalism, working with various magazines and newspapers in France and Niger. In 2008, he consolidated his training with a Master 2 in creative documentary filmmaking at the Université Gaston Berger in Saint Louis (Senegal), marking the start of his passionate journey into the world of filmmaking.

Sani Magori: A Committed Director

Her commitment to filmmaking is illustrated by her second documentary,“Pour le meilleur et pour l’oignon“. This 52-minute film explores a marriage closely linked to the harvesting and sale of Violet de Galmi, the Nigerien onion. The film was awarded the Prix Jean Rouch at the Forum Africain du Film Documentaire in Niamey in 2008. Shortly before, he had directed “Notre pain capital”, as part of a workshop supported by Ardèche Images (Africadoc), Grenoble’s Stendhal University and Gaston Berger.

Since February 2018, Sani Magori has been bringing his vision to the Centre National de la Cinématographie du Niger (CNCN) as Managing Director, succeeding Mr Ali Demba. His presence on the F.I.F.E.S. jury promises a rich and nuanced perspective, based on a deep experience in documentary filmmaking and a commitment to meaningful subjects.
