EDITION 2025
The 5th Festival International du Film Écologique et Social (FIFES) in Cannes from May 27 to June 1, 2025
Cannes is set to host the 5th edition of the Festival International du Film Écologique et Social (FIFES), to be held from May 27 to June 1, 2025. Under the presidency of Australian actor James Gerard, the jury of the international competition will reward the most inspiring films.
The festival will also have the honor of counting Camille de Casabianca as an exceptional godmother for this edition.
A central theme: “Water, our source of inspiration”.
This year, FIFES explores “Water, our source of inspiration”.
A blue thread will run through the days of the festival, exploring ways to protect and contemplate aquatic environments, from the canals of the Maralpine valleys to the Mediterranean Sea and the oceans.


Film screenings: May 29, 30, 31, Miramar, Olympia, Arcades
- International Competition: 14 films in the running
- Youth section: 2 films to inspire new generations
- Films des Territoires section: 4 films highlighting local initiatives
Screenings will take place at Espace Miramar, Les Arcades and L’Olympia cinemas.
Opening ceremony: May 28, Place de la Castre
- 16h30 Créateur.ices market and crêpes snack.
- 17h00 Aubade at the Marché Forville.
- 18h00 Aubade and traditional dance on the Place de la Castre.
- 19h00 Opening ceremony and cocktail reception.
- 20h00 Lecture by Nelly Pons, Océan Plastique.
- 21h00 Dance performance by Compagnie Les Somatonautes.
- 21h30 Screening of the film A Call From the Wild, Asgeir Helgestad.
Impact 360°: May 28, Espace Miramar
This morning event, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, offers a space for inspiration, meetings and the sharing of solutions, bringing together business leaders, public decision-makers (local authorities, elected representatives) and FIFES and EXIL partners. The program includes a film conference, as well as participative workshops enabling participants to reflect and act together for the region.

- 17h00 Children’s workshop around Jérémy Besset’s fresco
- 18h30 Musical performance by Miarana Rakotoarimanana
- 19h00 Closing ceremony with awards ceremony: Graine d’Or, Prix Coup de Coeur du Jury, Prix Spécial du Jury, Prix de l’Engagement, Prix du Public and Prix du Comité de Sélection. The prizes are awarded to major artists in ceramics, engraving, sculpture and painting.

Village des Initiatives: June 1, Allées de la Liberté
The Village des Initiatives is a place of discovery and commitment, where associations, businesses and local players present their innovative solutions to ecological and social challenges.
From 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, the public can take part in themed round tables, explore exhibition stands and attend screenings highlighting transformative projects in the region. A symbolic ocean walk will also be organized to raise awareness of the challenges of protecting marine environments.
Philharmonic concert: June 1, Allées de la Liberté
The day will conclude in style with a philharmonic concert of film music “Bandes originales”, conducted by six professional and amateur conductors(UFEM) starting at 7:00 pm.
