The 5th Festival International du Film Écologique et Social (FIFES) in Cannes from May 27 to June 1, 2025
Cannes is set to host the 5th edition of the Festival International du Film Écologique et Social (FIFES), to be held from May 27 to June 1, 2025. Under the presidency of Australian actor James Gerard, the International Competition jury will reward the most inspiring films.
The festival will also have the honor of welcoming Camille de Casabianca as an exceptional godmother for this edition.
A central theme: “Water in all its forms”.
This year, FIFES explores “Water in all its states: from rivers to oceans”.
A blue thread will run throughout the days of the festival to discover ways of protecting and contemplating aquatic environments, from the canals of the Alpine valleys to the Mediterranean Sea and the oceans.


Film screenings :
- International Competition: 14 films in the running
- Youth Competition: 4 films to inspire new generations
- Films des Territoires section: 4 films highlighting local initiatives
Screenings will take place at Espace Miramar, Les Arcades and L’Olympia cinemas.
Opening ceremony (May 28, Place de la Castre) :
- Aubade and Provençal dances at 5:00 p.m.
- Program and jury presentation at 7:00 p.m.
- Cocktail reception with organic, local and seasonal products
- Conference on ocean protection at 7:30 p.m.
- Film screening on ancestral wisdoms at 9:30 pm
- Designer’s market featuring local crafts and jewelry
Impact 360° (May 28, Espace Miramar):
This morning event, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, offers a space for inspiration, meetings and the sharing of solutions, bringing together business leaders, public decision-makers (local authorities, elected representatives) and FIFES and EXIL partners. The program includes a film conference, as well as participative workshops enabling participants to reflect and act together for the region.
Closing ceremony (May 31, Place de la Castre) :
- Awards ceremony at 7pm: Graine d’Or, Prix Coup de Cœur, Prix Spécial du Jury, Prix de l’Engagement, Prix Jeunesse and Prix du Public
- Dance performance by the Minuit Douze collective at 7:30 p.m.
- Cocktail reception with organic, local and seasonal products
- Free concerts of Gnawa and world music at 8:30 p.m.
- Designer’s market featuring local crafts and jewelry


Village des Initiatives (June 1, Allées de la Liberté):
The Village des Initiatives is a place of discovery and commitment, where associations, businesses and local players present their innovative solutions to ecological and social challenges.
From 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, the public can take part in themed round tables, explore exhibition stands and attend screenings highlighting transformative projects in the region. A symbolic ocean walk will also be organized to raise awareness of the challenges of protecting marine environments.
Philharmonic Concert June 1, Allées de la Liberté) :
The day will conclude in style with a philharmonic concert of film music “Bandes originales”, conducted by six professional and amateur conductors (UFEM) starting at 7:00 pm.
