THE 2026 EDITION

The 6th edition of the Festival International du Film Écologique et Social (FIFES) in Cannes on May 24 and from May 27 to 31, 2026

On May 24 and from May 27 to May 31, 2026, the 6th edition of the International Festival of Ecological and Social Films (FIFES) will take place in Cannes (06), under the presidency of Marie-Dominique Michaud for the international competition jury. This year, FIFES welcomes an inspiring patron: Nathanaël Coste.

The theme of the FIFES 2026 is: Biodiversity: restoring and protecting diversity“..

A green thread will be unrolled throughout the days of the festival to discover ways of protecting and restoring biodiversity sites.

Film screenings

  • International Competition: 10 films in the running
  • Youth Competition: 2 films to inspire new generations
  • Films des Territoires section: 4 films highlighting local initiatives

Screenings will take place at Espace Miramar from Wednesday, May 27 to 31, 2026.

Village des Initiatives (May 24, Allées de la Liberté):

The Village des Initiatives is a space where associations and NGOs will be rubbing shoulders on ecological and social issues. The program promises to be rich: round tables on biodiversity, talks by associations and exhibitors.

Philharmonic concert May 24, Allées de la Liberté) :

The day will conclude in style with a philharmonic concert of film music “Bandes originales”, conducted by six professional and amateur conductors (UFEM) starting at 7:00 pm.

Impact 360° (May 27, Espace Miramar):

This morning, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, offers a space for meetings and sharing of solutions between players in ecological and social innovation: business leaders, public decision-makers and partners. A film-conference and participatory workshops will provide participants with tools for reflection and action (by invitation only).

 

Opening ceremony – May 27 at 8pm at Espace Miramar

  • Ciné-apéro at 6:00 p.m.
  • Program and jury presentation at 7:00 p.m.
  • Screening of opening film in international competition at 9pm

Closing ceremony (May 30, les Allées de la Liberté):

  • Forest tales by Catherine Bouin at 6 p.m.
  • Awards ceremony at 7pm: Graine d’Or, Prix Coup de Cœur, Prix Spécial du Jury, Prix de l’Engagement, Prix Jeunesse and Prix du Public
  • Salsa dance workshop with John Stiven
  • A concert to the rhythm of the world with Cholao , ending on an explosive note with a DJ.
