Pioneering nature rights lawyer Marine Calmet is preparing an unprecedented appeal against the French state following the slaughter of over 800 sharks on Reunion Island since 2014. Alongside oceanographer Fran\u00e7ois Sarano and activist Didier D\u00e9rand, she is organizing a mock trial in which law students develop the arguments of the future appeal.
The aim: to have the ocean recognized as a legal entity and push the judge to condemn the slaughter.
