Hello I am Carmel Fife Pivacco, from the Fife's from the south. Nice Site! Lots to look at and so much to research to see if I have a connection. My family lives in Florida. My decendents came from Ebenezer Fife who was born in 1770 in Lenoir Co., NC and before that his family came from Scotland. I was told we are from the MacDuff Clan. I have some information on my site that may help someone connect to us. You can contact me anytime at:

I am Sarah Fife, now residing in Houston.  My father regaled my three sisters and me with stories of our Scottish ancestors and I have traveled several times to Scotland.  My father was Joseph Ray Fife, known in “Who’s Who” as one of the pioneers of broadcasting in the US.  His parents were Joseph Fife, Sr. and Maude (I don’t know her maiden name).  Joseph, Sr. deserted my father, aunt and grandmother and reportedly started another family somewhere in the US – my dad was from Chicago and my Grandmother Fife was from New York – where the family apparently landed after immigrating to the US from Scotland.  Our Fife family apparently belongs to the MacDuff Clan.
Besides traveling to Scotland (especially the Kingdom of Fife – of course!) I lived in Nova Scotia for several years.  I was baptized in the Presbyterian Church in Hammond, Indiana and, after following my father into broadcasting for many years, now serve as the Communications Director for a Presbyterian Church here in Houston.

Great Site, Thanks for your efforts, maybe we will put up our own. Our branch of the family (bothers William, John & Robert) came via Cork County (1840's),to Penn. then William & Robert) to Chicago. Robert joined Brigham Young & went to Salt Lake where he married 3 wifes) William's son James John Fife (my grandfather) came to CA looking for gold after being burnt out in Chicago Fire of 1871. His father (Wm) went off with the Illinois Regiment to fight in the Civil War and was though killed. His kids got a orphan's pension. But we recently found he joined his brother Robert in Utah and had 3 wives. He died in 1909 and is buried out side Salt Lake City! My sister, Elvarene Fife Forrest She married a descendant of the Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest) believes we shouldn't tell the U.S. government or they might demand the pension money back with interest!

My husband Jim is active in the Peck genealogy and I am actively perusing the Ellis Island Web Site for my Irish immigrant grandparents...

Comments: Thanks for setting your Fife web site. I am working on a descendant genealogy of John Wotton who immigrated to Parrsboro about 1820. I only today nailed down the Fife Wotton connection. When I was a child, eleven or less, my next door neighbor in Middlebury, Vt, Mr. Fife (Harry Moore Fife, editors comment), told me his grandmother was a Wotton. I have been puzzling over that for over fifty years.

Thanks again. Your site was a big help.
