This photograph was taken
on Stanley Fife and Frances Bouchard's wedding day, August 4, 1956 in
Shrewsbury, MA. Also in the photo are Stanley's parents Gordon Kenneth
Fife, and Florence G. Fife, nee Burgess, and Frances' mother Eva
Berthiaume Bouchard. |
 |
This photograph was taken
in front of the cottage on Lake
Dunmore, Vermont. Harry is on the left and Ella to his right. Not sure of
the date - any ideas? |
 |
This photo was
probably taken by Mary, wife of Gilbert Craig. Harry and Ella with their
children are posing along with Gilbert and his youngest daughter Thelma. The photograph has
531 Warren Avenue written on the back, which was the home of Gilbert and Mary in
East Providence, RI. |
 |
This was taken at one of the
family gatherings at the homestead in New Canaan. It appears that many of the family
pitched tents near Uncle Charlie's house. We have several more photographs like this one
that will be posted soon. This one is of Arthur Parkes and Gilbert Craig in
a more reflective mood. |
 |
I am not sure of the identity of the children and the woman in
this image but, Gilbert Craig is on the left and Arthur Parkes is on the right. |
 |
This photograph was taken on Lake
Dunmore, Vermont at the summer home of Harry and Ella. In the image Gilbert Craig is the
passenger and Harry Moore is providing the propulsion. |

Harry Moore Fife and Gilbert Craig
Fife in someone's backyard. Maybe at Gordon and Pearl's on Bristol Street in Worcester.
Don't have a date, probably taken in the 1920s or 30s. |
 |
Newspaper clipping with four
generations of Fife's in the photograph. Not sure which Nova Scotia newspaper it was
published in. The text states that little Murray Lee is only nine-months old so that would
make the date of the photo about 1937. |
 |
Great group photograph, maybe
taken at Gordon and Pearl's at 20 Bristol Street in Worcester. Lots of fine looking Fife
women in this one! Don't have a date yet. |
 |
According to the inscription on
the back of the photograph this image of Gordon Buckley Fife and his wife, Pearl Leona,
was taken on June 9, 1947 at Northborough Manor, Northborough, Massachusetts. The occasion
was the graduation of their daughter, Dorothy Jane, from beauty culture school. |
 |
This photograph was undoubtedly
taken in New Canaan by Gilbert or his wife Mary on one of their trips to the homestead.
Also in the photo is Lillian, her brother Murray Samuel and Lillian and Murray's father
Harley Everett. Many thanks to Murray L. Fife for help with the identification and the
date of the photograph - late 20's to early 30's. |
 |
This photograph appears to have
been taken in Gordon and Pearl's backyard at 20 Bristol Street in Worcester, Mass. Posing
together are Frederick Corbett, Leota Cassie, and Gordon Buckley. |
 |
This is a wedding day photograph
of Harry Moore Fife and Ella Sanford. They were wed on July 5, 1922 in St.
Croix, Hants County, Nova Scotia. |
 |
This was probably taken at Gordon
and Pearl's home in Worcester, Mass. or at Gilbert and Mary's in Providence, R.I. I would
put the date at about 1916 judging by the age of Russell and Eileen. |
 |
This photograph was probably taken
in New Canaan about 1922, give or take a few years. I'm guessing at the date by the
apparent ages of Gilbert Craig's children in the photograph. On the back of the photograph
the woman to the left is identified as Clara but, if you compare this image to the ones
below with both Clara and Margaret in them, I think you'll agree that this is Margaret.
Also in the photograph is Florence Fife nee Treen, William or Willie's wife and Arthur
Parks Fife. |
 |
This photograph was probably taken
in New Canaan before 1918, when James Buckley Fife died. In the photo with little Dorothy
Jane is her mother Pearl Leona, wife of Gordon Buckley. |
 |
This photograph was taken on
August 15, 1926, or so the notation says, at Uncle John and Aunt May's farm. I'm still
working on exactly who Uncle John and Aunt May are. Also in the photo you will find Bennie
Hills and Margaret Jane with two of their sons, one being my father; Gordon Buckley and
Pearl Leona with three of their youngest, and two daughters of a cousin Mabel's for which
I have no names yet. |
 |
This photograph and the next one
were taken at the same time and at the same place. I suspect that in this one Gilbert had
set the timer on his camera and was caught in the act of checking it to see if the shutter
was going to snap. In the next photo you'll see that his wife, Mary is absent and is
probably the photographer. |
 |
I have not been able to identify
the boy in the first photo and the gentleman in the hat, the lady on the left, and the
well tanned, tall & lean gentleman in the back that are in both photographs. Anyone
got any ideas? The date written on the photographs is 1928. |
 |
This photograph and the next three
were taken by Gilbert and his wife Mary. They each took turns as photographer in the first
two. Clara is standing next to a gentleman who I suspect is her husband, Jonah Skidmore. I
don't recognize the house so, I don't think it is Charles Tupper's or James Buckley's
which is another reason why I think it is Jonah. |
 |
I believe these two photos and the
two below were taken on the same trip. Gilbert and his family were living in Rhode Island
and made many trips up to the homestead. Thelma was born in 1919 so I would place the age
of the photo about 1925 - give or take. |
 |
This photograph and the one below
were taken at the same sitting. I suspect it is either at Uncle Charlie's (Charles Tupper
Fife) or Uncle Jim's (James Buckley Fife) place in New Canaan. From left to right: Cynthia
- Uncle Charlie's youngest daughter, then Margaret Fife, the little one is Thelma, and
next to her is Eileen - both daughters of Gilbert Craig Fife, and finally Clara Fife. Both
Margaret and Clara are sisters of Uncle Charlie and Uncle Jim. |
 |
This is basically the same
photograph but with just Margaret, Thelma, Clara, and the dog. Gilbert and Mary took many
photographs during their visits to the homestead. |
 |
This photograph might have been
taken at Harry Moore Fife's house since his oldest daughter Nona is in the photograph
sitting up-front with the child in her lap. Nona's children were all boys and from the
looks I would say that she is Gilbert and Mary's youngest - Thelma. From left to right:
Harry Moore, Gilbert Craig, Mary - Gilbert's wife, Bennie Hills, Margaret - Bennie's wife,
and Ella - Harry's wife. This photo would be about 1920. |
 |
This and the following photograph
contain seven of the twelve children of James Buckley and Frances Pamela Fife. The
photograph was probably taken in Worcester, Massachusetts at Gordon's house on 20
Bristol Street. |
 |
The second group photograph of Jim
and Fannie's children. Missing from the two photographs are Thomas Austin, William Lester,
Willie Reid, Gilbert Craig, Lloyd Earle (died about 1928), and Leo Murray (died in
infancy). |
 |
The children of Gordon Buckley and
Pearl Fife. The date on the photo is 3/24/49. The photograph was taken in Worcester,
Massachusetts. |
 |
The children of Hollis Austin and
Mary Alice Fife. The date is about 1959. The photograph was taken in Westborough,
Massachusetts. |
